The Velociraptor is a smaller dromaeosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived during the later part of the Cretaceous Period.
Velociraptor meaning “swift thief” was a bipedal, feathered carnivore with a long tail and an enlarged sickle-shaped claw on each hindfoot, which is thought to have been used to tackle and tear into prey. It shared many of the same anatomical features as the Deinonychus.
Velociraptors weren’t as big as Onyx or any of the other famous “raptors” seen in the movies, rather they were no larger than a turkey.
